Take the train. GWR’s branch service from Truro reaches Falmouth Town in 20 minutes with four stops, and there is nothing to change onto. On the weekday timetable we checked it left Truro 30 times, the first at 06:02 and the last at 22:56, so for most of the day the next Falmouth train is never more than half an hour off.
Through the middle of the day the pattern is easy to carry in your head. From 08:15 until 15:45 the Falmouth train goes at a quarter past and a quarter to each hour, and from 16:20 to 18:20 it slips to twenty past and ten to.
Early in the morning the choices are the 06:02, the 06:30, the 07:13 and the 07:43. The evening is thinner: after the 18:20 come the 19:06, 19:41, 20:50, 21:56 and 22:56, so from 19:41 onwards the Falmouth trains we found were an hour or a little more apart. If you are spending an evening in Truro and sleeping in Falmouth, the 21:56 and the 22:56 are the two to aim for.
By road it is 12 miles along the A39 and about 26 minutes, so the 20-minute branch train edges it on time alone, and you arrive without a car to deal with at the far end.
This short run is also the last leg of every main rail route into Falmouth on this site. Trains from Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol, St Ives and London Paddington all bring you to Truro, and from there it is this same 20-minute hop, so the half-hourly frequency above is what governs your connection.
Get off at Falmouth Town rather than staying on to Falmouth Docks, the other end of the branch. From Falmouth Town station, Church Street is 826 metres away, about twelve minutes on foot.
